Steadiwear’s mission is to restore independence and quality of life to all those who suffer from hand tremors around the world. Our flagship product, the Steadi-Two, is a cutting-edge glove designed to significantly reduce the severity of tremors in Essential tremor.

Tell us about yourself?

My educational background is in structural engineering. Learning about vibration absorption technology used for earthquake design was the inspiration for the core Steadiwear technology.

In addition, my co-founder/CMO Emile and myself both have tremors in our family. This is what fueled our resolve to address this problem.

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

Hire slowly and fire quickly. It’s a much better approach than the opposite. When you find yourself short staffed and in a hurry, It’s best to take your time and ensure you have the right person on board.

What problem does your business solve?

Essential tremor causes uncontrollable hand tremors that make daily activities such as eating, writing and drinking very challenging.

The solutions currently available mainly include medications which are not designed for tremors and have undesired side effects. Brain surgery which is highly invasive and some low tech weighted solutions. There is a very large gap in this space for a solution that is highly effective and affordable.

What is the inspiration behind your business?

My co-founder/CMO Emile and myself both have tremors in our family. This is what fueled our resolve to address this problem. Steadiwear’s mission is to restore independence and quality of life to all those who suffer from hand tremors around the world.

Our flagship product, the Steadi-Two, is a cutting-edge glove designed to significantly reduce the severity of tremors in Essential tremor. With the Steadi-Two, individuals with tremors can go about their daily activities with confidence, control and an improved quality of life.

What is your magic sauce?

The Steadi-Two technology is battery-free, provides instant relief to tremors and weighs under 1lb. Other solutions currently out there are either too heavy, take 40 minutes to start working or have significant usage limitations of 1 hour per day.

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

Steadiwear’s mission is to restore independence and quality of life to all those who live with tremors around the world.

Our plan for the next 5 years is to make the Steadi-Two available and accessible to all tremor patients on an international scale.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

After the Steadi-One release, It was clear from the early adopter feedback that the device had to be miniaturized.

This is what fueled the entire research and development cycle for the Steadi-Two and was the biggest challenge we have faced. Thankfully, with our Mitacs collaboration with Dr.Hadi Mohammadi and Stephen Kimanzi from UBC Kelowna, the process was facilitated.
