Jorra: Third-party Internet Provider Doing Our Best To Provide the Best Bang for Your Buck Option for Internet Services for Canadians

July 10, 2022

We are a third-party internet provider doing our best to provide the best bang for your buck option for internet services for Canadians. We are striving for fair competition and fair prices in the internet industry and believe that internet connectivity is a right and not a privilege for everyone in Canada.

Tell us about yourself?

I joined CanNet in the hope of being able to make a difference in the ISP industry.

I was shocked when I came to Canada and noticed how bad the prices were for internet with ample options to choose from.

In the years that I have worked in this industry we have made great strides in lowering the average prices for unlimited internet plans in Canada.

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

We should have started earlier in making people aware that the CRTC is not there to help the Canadian consumers.

They are only interested in helping the big telecom companies keeping the wholesale rates high for home internet, telephone, television packages and data plans.

We could have made more people aware that they should vote with their wallet and support independent ISPs to make a statement against the big guys in the industry.

What problem does your business solve?

We offer truly unlimited downloads and uploads based on fair usage with a super stable internet network for very affordable prices.

Furthermore, we have partnered up with professionals that deliver the best internet technology which includes Fibre internet across all the areas where we provide our services.

CanNet has the best and most efficient internet plans ranging from 15Mbps to 1000Mbps speeds. Our internet plans are very simple and straightforward, and if there are any issues, we make it easy to troubleshoot the problem.

What is the inspiration behind your business?

Like any other Canadian we were fed with the status quo of internet offerings in Canada.

It took over a decade before we had proper unlimited internet plans while the rest of the world was having plans with no data limits, paying peanuts compared to what the average Canadian household pays.

We started CanNet because we were fed up with the oligopoly of the big guys acting like cartels keep internet prices artificially high. There was no real choice on the market when it came to internet service providers for the consumer.

We wanted to be that voice for the average consumer and we find that internet connectivity is a right and not a privilege.

What is your magic sauce?

CanNet Telecom provides very affordable and high-speed internet services across Canada since 2009 and our customers know that we have the best prices in the market.

CanNet services are available almost everywhere in Canada, from one coast to another and we made our name as one of the largest independent internet service providers in Canada. We bring you the lowest rates for the same internet plans for which you are paying double the price.

We are able to do that because we are a very lean company and have chosen the best partnerships to provide the most affordable and efficient internet services to Canadians.

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

The plan is to grow surely but slowly while we educate the masses of what has been going in the industry.

We want the people in Canada in to know why they are paying one of the highest rates for broadband internet services and why there are many communities still lacking in high-speed internet infrastructure.

Furthermore, we will also form an action plan to help bring high-speed internet infrastructure to these communities in Canada.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

The CRTC, the organization overseeing and to implement the laws and regulations set by Parliamentarians who create legislation and departments that set policies had sided with the big guys in the industry and ruled in 2021 that the wholesale rates could be hiked up to unproportionable high rates, which would make competition almost obsolete for third-party internet providers.

This means that internet prices in general will only go up for Canadians.

How do people get involved/buy into your vision?

We are champions in providing affordable internet services for Canadians and we will continue educating people on what is going in this deceptive industry.

Prices are artificially being inflated so that consumers have no choice but to pay these exorbitant rates.

We do not want to partake in such businesses and we are one of the few independent ISPs who is actually being pro consumer.
