8 Years of app / startup experience. Project manager for Jobbee, DLVR-e, MN-u, KWKLY, and beyond! I am a passionate builder of solutions.
With 8 years of experience, Northern Devs has witnessed startups struggle to reach their market and prove their idea to stakeholders and investors.
After seeing this problem occur countless times, Northern Devs was formed to create an equitable solution to help founders validate their market and prepare quantitative data to present to investors.
If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?
Remind clients and team members constantly of CORE deliverables. Question “value add” features.
What problem does your business solve?
Startups with non-tech teams lack the ability to economically take their app / service idea to market without using prohibitively expensive dev services.
This means they can’t easily validate their business model & market demand. THIS means they won’t be able to seek scale-up / Seed Funding. No Data, No Investment.
What is the inspiration behind your business?
The inspiration behind Northern Devs was to create a dev studio that was Canadian. We want to support local startups and businesses, locally! We believe that there is immense talent in Canada and want to show the world this talent.
What is your magic sauce?
We believe our key differentiators are our support that we offer to these startups and our proprietary tech.
Our experience allows us to help young founding teams form their market-ready webapps to test their ideas without being bogged down by poor user experience and user interface design. The tech we have developed allows for us to prepare these webapps in under one month.
What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?
The plan for Launchpad is to spread our tech and mindset to accelerators and incubators across Canada and beyond. We see Northern Devs and our proprietary tech becoming a staple in the incubator / startup environment.
We see startups having “Launchpad Advisors” who can help consult and guide non-tech founders through the process of building a webapp quickly and easily. We want to make the world of startups equitable.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?
Our biggest issue at the moment is reaching startups to help. Building relationships with incubators and accelerators to reach these young, non-tech companies is proving to be challenging.
We are looking to solve this by networking and building relationships in the incubator / accelerator community to show we are here to solve a problem they experience.
